FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Franklin Fire Department responded to and extinguished multiple structure fires on Tuesday. No injuries were reported in either incident.

According to the statement from the Franklin Fire Department, the first structural fire occurred at a manufacturing facility on Southeast Parkway, Superior Essex, at 10:25 a.m. on May 21. Though staff had initially attempted to extinguish the fire, caused by an accidental lubricant spill, Franklin Fire’s Lieutenant Todd Wilson said that the attempt was unsuccessful.

He added that the fire began in a machine that produced wire for electric motors; his team was able to contain fire to that machine and prevent damage to the building. causing only a minor interruption to business operations.

Franklin Fire noted that second incident was a residential fire on Natchez Street, which sustained significant damage. Wilson reported that three adults had seen smoke coming from a wall and dialed 911. After extinguishing the fire inside the wall, removing some portions, Franklin Fire set up an on-site decontamination operation for responders’ potential asbestos exposure.
