BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – At the Sloan Convention Center, hotel and restaurant staff cut loose and got competitive as part of their annual tradition. News 40 stopped by the center to watch all the games played and laughs exchanged as the Southern Kentucky Hospitality Association held their annual Olympic games centered around things that hospitality workers do every day. Bowling Green Board of Education approves 5% salary increase for city school employees
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Board of Education has approved a 5% salary increase for all employees, both certified and classified for the 2024-2025 school year. First-year teachers with a bachelor’s degree will begin at $45,000 and the minimum hourly wage in BGISD will be $15.75 an hour, according to the district.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Opening day for the Russell Sims Aquatic Center is May 25, and it will implement a new experience for local families. The Russell Sims Aquatic Center is working towards accommodating local disabled children and their families. The center will provide four days this upcoming summer on June 11 and 25, and July 9 and 23 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. reserved for those families.
WKU hoops great Marshall passes away
Tom Marshall, one of only three Western Kentucky University men’s basketball players to earn consensus All-American honor, died Friday in Fort Myers, Florida. He was 93. Marshall, a 6-foot-4 forward, earned All-American honors in 1953 and 1954, narrowly missing first-team consensus distinction as a senior in ‘54. A three-time Ohio Valley Conference selection, Marshall led the Hilltoppers to the National Invitation Tournament all three seasons. Marshall finished his career as the program’s leader in points scored (1,909) and scoring average (19.1 ppg) — benchmarks that still rank him fourth and fifth, respectively, in WKU history.
