It helps to have a roster chock full of seniors that brought home a Gold Ball for the first time in over two decades.
Softball Game Recap: Chillicothe Comes Up Short
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Chillicothe can now relate to. They lost 11-1 to the Lancaster Golden Gales on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Chillicothe of the 19-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2017.
Adena softball fights to bitter end in Division III district semi loss to Dawson-Bryant
CHILLICOTHE — In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Adena softball team was brewing up a potential comeback against Dawson-Bryant. Over the previous four innings, the Warriors built themselves a four-run rally and trailed the Hornets by one run with two outs in the final frame. Bit by bit, the Warriors had inched back to within striking distance. Kiera Williams, the potential tying run, waited at third as Marly Halcomb approached the plate. All Adena needed was one more hit.

Tigers advance in tourney with win over Vinton County
The McClain Tigers varsity baseball team got their first tournament win since 2019 with a 12-6 victory over Vinton County Monday night on Tom Hixson Field in Greenfield. McClain scored six runs on seven hits in the fifth inning to basically put the game away. The Tiger bats were blazing most of the game when they totaled 13 hits that included six players with multiple-hit performances.
Paint Valley's Bell, Chambers commit to play football at Wittenberg
Paint Valley seniors Peyton Bell and Dom Chambers recently held a joint signing, with both student-athletes committing to play collegiate football at Wittenberg University. Bell, an offensive lineman, was named to the second-team All-Ohio list for offense his senior year, while also being named Southeast District Lineman of the Year, both by members of the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association. The Scioto Valley Conference selected him as SVC Lineman of the Year.

Tigers lose against Huntington, Portsmouth West
The baseball season of the McClain Tigers continued last week as they lost on the road to Huntington on Wednesday (May 8) and on Friday (May 10) at home to Portsmouth West. On Wednesday, the Tigers lost 10-0 to Huntington, collecting two hits, one walk and one error. Huntington totaled eight hits, four errors and walked nine times.
