FRANKFORT, Ind. — Police are investigating after a Sunday night fight led to shots being fired and two people being sent to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

Alvaro Leon-Bautista, 39, of Frankfort has been arrested and accused of pulling the trigger in the shooting that left multiple people injured. He faces preliminary charges of criminal recklessness and pointing a firearm.

According to the Frankfort Police Department, officers were called to the 300 block of Bunnell Street shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Sunday on reports of a fight where gunfire broke out.

Police arrived on scene and found two people suffering from gunshot wounds who were taken to a hospital for treatment. Police said two additional people were also injured by shrapnel but declined medical treatment.

Police labeled Leon-Bautista as the suspected shooter and said he was quickly detained after officers first arrived on scene.

At this time, police haven’t released any further information about the fight or the shooting that reportedly stemmed from it.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact Frankfort police.

The Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office will determine what, if any, charges will be filed against Leon-Bautista.
