The Town of Fountain Hills has a tradition of honoring public safety by recognizing sacrifices made to protect the community with the honorary lighting of the famous fountain. On Wednesday, May 15, the fountain will be bathed in blue light in honor of National Police Week.

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which it falls as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

The fountain is recognized as the fourth tallest in the world, reaching a height of 560 feet when at full capacity. Its run times are 15 minutes at the top of each hour from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
