(FOUNTAIN, Colo.) — A large police presence in Fountain on Saturday night, Apr. 27 in response to a family disturbance has ended without injuries, said the Fountain Police Department (FPD).

Just before 7 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to a call on the 7400 block of Benecia Drive in Fountain. One shot was fired inside the home, and the person who was armed had barricaded themselves inside. The other family members had left the home.

A notification was sent to neighbors warning them to stay clear of the area and stay indoors until the situation was resolved. FPD’s Rapid Response Team was called out to help find a peaceful resolution.

According to FPD, just before midnight, the barricaded person came out of the home and was taken into custody, and neighbors were notified that the shelter-in-place had been lifted. No injuries were reported.

We will post any further updates when they become available.
