Fort Worth’s Cowtown Coliseum is hosting a different type of bull riding event later this month.
The Stockyards venue is hosting a premiere screening of the film “Ride” at 8 p.m. on May 26. The rodeo heist-thriller is set in the world of bull riding and stars Jake Allyn, C. Thomas Howell, Annabeth Gish and “Yellowstone” actor Forrie J. Smith.
From Well Go USA Entertainment, the synopsis for “Ride” reads , “Three generations of bull riders fight to raise money to transfer the family’s young daughter to a better cancer hospital. Set in Stephenville, Texas, ‘Ride’ explores rodeo, addiction in the Heartland, and the cowboy’s place in modern America.”
Attendees can choose from general admission and dirt level tickets, both at $25 a piece. General admission passes are the regular stands in the coliseum, while dirt level tickets will put guests in chairs in the middle of the arena floor.
The first 250 guests to arrive at the screening will have the opportunity to meet the film’s stars — Allyn, Howell and Smith.
Last November, the coliseum hosted the red carpet premiere of “LANE: Life | Legend | Legacy” , a documentary about bull riding legend Lane Frost.
For “Ride”, the film’s team approached the venue about hosting the premiere as a way to showcase the locale’s newly renovated arena, a coliseum spokesperson told the Star-Telegram. The film will play on the coliseum’s video screen, which will be lowered to hover above the dirt arena.
