Sentencing continues Friday in murder trial after courtroom outburst

Sentencing will continue Friday after a Fort Worth man was convicted of murdering his girlfriend and her 10-year-old daughter six years ago.

On Thursday, a jury convicted Paige Lawyer of capital murder. But as the jury was beginning to hear evidence in the sentencing phase, a prolonged outburst from Lawyer forced the judge to remove the jury and have Lawyer taken to a holding room.

Courtroom observers said they had trouble understanding what Lawyer was shouting about. After the commotion, the judge adjourned court for the day, saying proceedings would resume Friday.
