A jury in Fort Worth just sentenced a man to 65 years in prison in a murder-for-hire trial with a strange twist.

Court records show 21-year-old Damon Cotton was the convicted hit man in a scheme to kill Braylin Brown Sr. And the man who paid Cotton to kill was Braylin Brown Jr, the son of the victim.

Police say Brown Jr and Brown Sr were both in a relationship with the same woman in January of 2022, and that the younger Brown paid Cotton to kill his father.

Police records show the murder went down in a southern Fort Worth Neighborhood. Crime scene reports show Cotton was in the back seat of a car that was parked outside the older Brown's home. When he stepped outside, Cotton opened fire and the car sped off.

Another jury found Braylin Brown Jr guilty of murder and sent him away for life.
