FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – It is that time of the year already! As we wrap up the month of April Tuesday, it is time for another season of Trek the Trails and Tread the Trails!
Both programs are free and you are able to explore the over 140 miles of trails within the Greater Fort Wayne Trail Network. All ages and skill levels are welcome, but individuals are responsible for their own safety at all trail events.
Tuesday evening’s kickoff event was at 6 PM. Bikers and hikers met downtown at Promenade Park to begin the season. The Trek the Trails biking distance was 8.2 miles and hikers with Tread the Trails participated in a guided one mile and 5k walk/run. Bikers were encouraged to wear a helmet and both groups were encouraged to bring water.
This special event also included a free Trails Celebration Party from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, hosted by Fort Wayne Trails Inc. TEDS Snack+ Bar was also open with food and drink for purchase.
Trek the Trails is sponsored by UAW Local #2209, Three Rivers Velo Sport, and Bike Fort Wayne, and is presented by the City of Fort Wayne and Fort Wayne Trails. It happens every Tuesday at 6 PM.
