DAYTON, Ohio (WANE) – The Cardiac ‘Caps completed another comeback in a 5-3 win decided in 10 innings on Sunday.

With Sunday’s victory, the TinCaps also clinched a 4-2 series win over the Dragons.

Fort Wayne fell behind early again, allowing three runs over the first three innings to Dayton. Colton Bender sparked a TinCaps comeback with a two RBI double in the top of the fourth inning. The catcher tied the game in the sixth inning with a ground rule double that scored Kai Murphy.

Dayton nearly walked off Fort Wayne in the final inning. Tied 3-3, the Dragons loaded the bases with two outs. However, Mitch Miller delivered a strikeout to force a 10th inning.

Dayton had a chance to tie the game with runners at first and second base, but the TinCaps defense closed the game with a double play to seal the win.

Fort Wayne (8-6) has a half game lead for first place in the Midwest League’s East Division two and a half weeks into the regular season. The TinCaps host second place Great Lakes for a 6-game series starting Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Parkview Field.
