Honoring war veterans

FORT MCCOY, Wis. (WKBT) -- Honoring the service of Vietnam war veterans, was the goal for a remembrance ceremony held at Fort McCoy.

Stephen Messenger, the Garrison Commander of Fort McCoy, expressed profound honor in personally affixing lapel pins to everyone, a humble yet meaningful gesture of appreciation.

He further emphasizes that numerous Vietnam War veterans have yet to receive the recognition they rightfully deserve.

"It is so warming to come out and be able to do that for them today," said Messenger.

Fort McCoy is immersed in their training season, welcoming multiple branches of the military to undergo rigorous training both in Wisconsin and throughout the region. Their collective mission remains to uphold and defend the Constitution.
