I just drove from Fort Collins to Basalt.

    It was pounding down.

I'm a card-carrying snowstafarian and it made me happy.

All of Summit County was getting blasted, but by the time we passed Copper and headed to Vail Pass, our brains were unhinged by both the poor driving of most I-70 drag-racers and the amount of snow dropping on the slopes around us.

Central Colorado at its springtime best!

Copper is taking advantage of the situation and offering $99 tickets through the end of the season, which at this point in time is unknown.

"Copper Mountain is once again enjoying mid-winter conditions," said a statement from the resort this afternoon. "Ten inches of snow has fallen at the mountain in the last 24 hours and more continues to stack up on the snow stake. For late-April, conditions are excellent and have allowed us to extend our season into May."

Copper, like the other Central Colorado snow-grabbers, has enough snow to likely see a couple of June (dare I saw July?) closings.

"We will be skiing and riding as long as conditions allow. Starting tomorrow (April 29), American Eagle, Excelerator, Super Bee and Storm King lifts will be running with access to associated terrain," the resort said. "No beginner terrain will be offered during the extended season. The Superpipe, a hike terrain park at the top of the American Eagle lift, and features below the superpipe will be open for freestyle skiers and riders to utilize. Copper is also offering $99 lift tickets now through closing day."

And, yes, I've been skiing Summit County until last week.

    It's wet but good.

    See you out there.
