Franklin's defense frustrates Kenosha Bradford in meeting of old SEC foes
KENOSHA – When you're starting five sophomores on offense and 1,000-yard rusher Dillon Herling is on the sideline in a walking boot on his right foot after tearing the plantar plate in a dramatic victory at Oconomowoc two weeks ago, things can feel even more stressful for Franklin's first-year head coach Drew Ambrose and the Sabers heading on the road to open the postseason. Oct. 23 brought countless tense moments, but the Sabers defense eased the tension in a grit-and-grind 16-6 victory over No. 4 seed Kenosha Bradford in the WIAA Division 1 high school football playoffs for its rookie head coach's first playoff win. "That's been our strength all year," Ambrose said on the Sabers' defensive unit. "Those guys have been playing their asses off all year. I mean, the coaching staff's doing a great job getting them prepared. They're playing hard. I think our D-line is the biggest strength of our team. Those guys are big, they're physical, they're dominant. I think that's who we're going to have to ride all the way to Camp Randall if we make it that far." The likes of Andrew Chromy, London Helm, Zachary Keith and Justin Sparacino made Bradford completely a

Hulman will bump, set and spike for Bryant and Stratton College
ANTIGO — Antigo’s Layla Hulman will soon be trading in her Red Robin wings for a chance to play as a Bobcat. The Antigo High School senior has committed to continue her volleyball and academic career by attending Bryant and Stratton College in Wauwatosa. “Throughout her time with Antigo volleyball, Layla has demonstrated dedication, hard work and leadership both on and off the court,” coach Brinna Mauk said during recent Senior Night festivities at Sheldon Fieldhouse. A daughter of Anthony (Michelle) Hulman and Calla (Nathan) Scheel, Hulman has cited her intention to pursue a nursing degree while also playing volleyball for the Bobcat squad. “As a senior captain, she has been an important part of our program in setting an example for her teammates,” Mauk continued, giving kudos to the middle hitter who has earned frequent accolades both on and off the court. Bryant and Stratton is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association, the second largest national intercollegiate athletic organization in the U.S., featuring over 500 member schools across 44 states. “We can’t wait to see what her future holds,” Mauk said.
