Keep the Midlands Beautiful annual shoe drive continues through May
Keep the Midlands Beautiful (KMB) is hosting its annual shoe drive fundraiser. The fundraiser began in March, and will continue through May 31. The shoe drive helps KMB raise funds to support its mission to educate, inspire and empower citizens to improve the places where they live, work and play through litter prevention, recycling and beautification.

Bicyclist killed in Lexington County crash with SUV
LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — A bicyclist hit by an SUV in Lexington County has died, authorities announced on Saturday. Lance Corporal Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened on May 9 at about 2:20 p.m. along Woodtrail Drive (Secondary 663) near Sandy Oak Lane in Lexington County. Butler said a 2003 Toyota 4Runner was heading south on Woodtrail Drive when it collided with the bicycle. The crash sent the rider to the hospital.
