Woman killed in crash after vehicle strikes a concrete footer; Charges pending for male driver

A woman is dead after a vehicle she was in crashed.

Officials say they were called to a single vehicle accident at the intersection of Veterans drive and Main Street in Follansbee, WV where the vehicle which was traveling north on Main Street had left the roadway and struck a concrete footer supporting a metal utility pole.

The female passenger was unconscious upon arrival and the male driver was conscious and alert, according to officials.

The female passenger was transported to Weirton Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The male driver was transported to Weirton Medical Center and treated for injuries and released.

Officials say charges are pending upon completion of investigation.

The crash happened on May 3 at 1:47 am.

Follansbee police and fire and Brooke EMS were on the scene.

Names are not being released at this time.
