Lewisville Students participate in FFA State Conference
LEWISVILLE — This is the week for the groundwater sampling event, which assesses the groundwater quality in Lewisville. To have your drinking water tested, simply follow these two steps: 1) Pick up a bottle and instructions at the Lewisville Community Center on Saturday, June 15, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 12 noon, and pay $55 for the analysis. 2) Collect water sample and drop it off on Monday, June 17, from 6–8 p.m. at the Community Center. Each sample will be assigned a distinct number, correlating with the location and well owner information. 100 years agoWilliam Wilson, wanted in connection with the shooting of Bonneville County Deputy Neal Simpkins, remained at large this week in 1924. A bulletin had been sent across the Intermountain West. “According to the information received, Wilson shot and killed Simpkins when the latter came to serve a warrant on him on a liquor charge,” the Associated Press reported. “He made his getaway and headed north from Idaho Falls after the shooting. It is believed he is trying to get across the border into Canada.” Wilson was described as 5-foot, 7- or 8-inches, weighing between 155 and 160 pounds with a sandy complexion, shaggy eyebrows, face tanned and weather-beaten. “When last seen he was wearing whip-cord trousers and puttees, black leather vest and grey cap,” the report said. “We want him badly,” said Bonneville County Sheriff C.E. Criddle.
