Construction on new Playmill Theatre getting underway in Island Park soon
IDAHO FALLS – After four years of delays, construction on a new Playmill Theatre is finally getting underway. Owner Roger Merrill tells EastIdahoNews.com construction crews will break ground next week on a new 22,000-square-foot building at 4111 North Big Springs Loop in Island Park next to Springhill Suites by Marriott.
UPDATE: Power restored after outage affects Idaho Falls and surrounding areas
IDAHO FALLS — EastIdahoNews.com is receiving reports of recurring power outages throughout the Idaho Falls area. The outages started around 3 p.m. Thursday. It is unknown how many people the outage is affecting. Idaho Falls spokesperson Eric Grossarth says a switch tripped at one of the substations and crews are working to figure out why.
One returning and one new Juneteenth celebration to be held in east Idaho
IDAHO FALLS — Eastern Idahoans have two options to choose from if they want to attend a community event celebrating Juneteenth. Pocatello has had Juneteenth celebrations in previous years, and will have one again this year. Idaho Falls will have its first community event celebrating the holiday, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, on both June 15 and June 19.

UPDATE: Andrew Mickelsen elected as Region 10 Chairman at state convention
Andrew Mickelsen was officially elected as the Region 10 Chairman to represent Bonneville, Bingham and Jefferson counties on the Idaho GOP Executive Committee Thursday evening in Coeur d’Alene. The decision followed a period of controversy in which the state party did not recognize an earlier election where Mickelsen was selected by representatives from the three counties to be their voice on the Executive Committee.
