Two moose lethally removed from highway interchange by Fish and Game in Pocatello
POCATELLO — Two moose were euthanized by officials on Friday morning, after they were reportedly found standing on a median in the middle of a highway interchange. According to a news release from the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, officers lethally removed two moose from the Interstate 15 and Interstate 86 interchange after a report that they were lingering in an “island” of open space. “In the interest of public safety, both moose — a cow and a bull — were dispatched and removed from the area,” says the release. Four days of razor clam digs begin Monday
Four days of razor clam digs begin Monday at Copalis and Mocrocks beaches. “With the ongoing closure at Long Beach and Twin Harbors, we have structured the upcoming opening at Copalis and Mocrocks to maximize a quality digging series while protecting coastal clam populations and preserving opportunity throughout the fall season,” state Department of Fish and Wildlife coastal shellfish biologist Bryce Blumenthal said in a news release. “By shifting to a four-day digging window we can align digging time with the lowest tides of the tidal cycle. While managing one open beach at a time requires us to be more strategic, this approach gives diggers the best chance at successful harvest during the best tides of the week.”

Fish and Game kills 2 moose that wandered into Pocatello freeway interchange
POCATELLO — Idaho Fish and Game officers killed two moose Friday morning after the animals were found lingering in an open patch of land inside the Interstate 15 and Interstate 86 system interchange in Pocatello, according to the agency. The cow and bull moose were standing in a triangle of open space wedged between the two busy interstates, Fish and Game said. Even if left alone, the moose would have had to cross lanes of traffic to get out. The meat from both animals was donated to local families. Moose turning up in towns and cities is nothing new in East Idaho, according to Fish and Game. The agency regularly responds to reports of moose in neighborhoods, shopping centers, cemeteries, golf courses, near schools and on busy roadways. Most of the time, the animals either leave on their own or are captured and relocated. The cow killed Friday wore an ear tag showing she had been moved from the Chubbuck area just last year. This time, location and the risk to drivers made relocation too dangerous, Fish and Game said. Sedatives used to immobilize moose and other large animals don’t take effect immediately. A darted animal will often bolt and
