Twin Falls is a growing town, and most of the Magic Valley towns have seen their population grow over the last few years. The area is made up of small farming communities and makes for a great place to raise a family. It is mostly quiet, slow-paced, and easygoing. While every place has crime, the crime in the Magic Valley typically isn't that bad compared to other places. As the population grows, the crime rates go up a tad but still stay lower than most places. Over the last month, Twin Falls has seen a handful of crimes that have raised some eyebrows, and it bares questioning, is Twin Falls and the Magic Valley still safe?

On the evening of December 1, 2023, the Twin Falls community in Idaho was rocked by a harrowing event. A shooting at Tint Shop V on Kimberly Road claimed the lives of two individuals, 26-year-old Jaime Bravo and 36-year-old Jesse Ortiz, who was also the owner of the shop. This local business tragedy sparked an urgent manhunt by the Twin Falls Police Department for two male suspects, known to the public only through images and videos released by the authorities. With one suspect nicknamed 'El Guero', the police are emphasizing the need for community support in capturing these armed and dangerous individuals, under the guidance of Detective Morgan Waite.

In September 2023, the Idaho Department of Agriculture found quagga mussels in the Snake River near Twin Falls. These invasive species can damage waterways and fish populations. The Idaho Fish and Game department helped assess possible solutions. They also counted the fish in the six-mile area where the mussels were found. Chelated copper was chosen as the best treatment, despite its potential harm to other aquatic life.
