Tug Valley softball finishes as sectional runner-up
SETH, W.Va. — Tug Valley Lady Panthers moved into the championship round of the sectional tourney with a win at Sherman 7-3 on May 7. This was an elimination game in the double-elimination event and Tug improved to 20-7 overall and 4-1 in Class A, Region 4, Section 1 play.

A fresh start?
Last week after much public controversy, Mayor Charlie Hatfield resigned his position as mayor of Williamson. Is the city better off? Will there be a fresh start?. Hatfield needed to resign a long time ago, but because of who knows why, he held on to that position as the city continued its downward spiral while he and his cronies benefitted. The commission knew for years he was not a leader and they, too, are to blame for allowing that chicanery to continue.
KSP Post 9 hosting car show for Christmas outreach
PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Kentucky State Police Post 9 is preparing for its summer car show, raising money for the Shop With a Trooper program. “None of that would be possible if it wasn’t for the fundraising and donations from our community,” said Post 9 Public Affairs Officer Michael Coleman. “You know, it costs anywhere between $12,000 to $14,000 each year to put [Shop With a Trooper] on. And the more money we raise, the more money we can give the kids to spend each year.”

State officials announced this week that they have absolved the county of a $1 million debt obligation on the Twin Branch Drag Strip property. Originally pledged to the county as a grant by former Gov. Bob Wise, but later changed to a loan by then-Gov.
