Pittsboro seeks exemption on satellite annexation
PITTSBORO — The Town of Pittsboro has requested that the North Carolina General Assembly pass legislation to include the town among the more than 100 cities and towns statewide exempt from the cap on satellite annexation. Nearby towns such as Siler City, Goldston and Sanford are already on this list.
UNC basketball reaches out to new 2025 recruiting target
Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program have a new target on their 2025 recruiting board. With some help needed at the guard position for the future, the Tar Heels have identified four-star guard Acaden Lewis as a target. The program has reached out to Lewis recently per Colby Giacubeno of Made Hoops and the 247Sports site for Maryland. The prospect has 25 offers in his recruitment so far but has yet to land one from North Carolina. That could change soon enough with UNC showing interest as of late. Florida State, North Carolina and Virginia Punch Tickets to Men’s College World Series
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (ACC) - Three teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference have punched their tickets to the Men’s College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, after winning their respective Super Regionals. Florida State, North Carolina and Virginia are the first three teams across the country to secure their spot among the eight-team double-elimination field.
Talking Tar Heels, Omaha with Zack Gahagan
With North Carolina headed to Omaha for the College World Series this week, Inside Carolina’s Taylor Vippolis and Tommy Ashley talked to a member of the last Tar Heel team to get to the epicenter of college baseball - Zack Gahagan. Gahagan was a member of the 2018 Diamond Heels squad that plowed through the Chapel Hill regional and swept Stetson in the super regional. Carolina defeated eventual national champion Oregon State to open the CWS but fell to Mississippi State and those Beavers, ending the 44-20 season. Gahagan shares memories from his time at Carolina and of the run to Omaha.
