Freedom Christian baseball, softball star's among 25 top Fayetteville players in playoffs

It's May and that means it's time for NCHSAA and NCISAA state baseball and softball playoffs beginning.

As we hop into postseason play, 12 teams will represent Fayetteville and their respective conferences in the playoffs.

Freedom Christian softball takes control in the NCISAA Division 3 bracket with the No. 1 seed after going 21-0 on the season. Cape Fear baseball stands at the No. 3 spot in the 3A East, and Terry Sanford are placed as the fourth seed.

Here's a look at the top 25 baseball and softball players throughout the NCHSAA, and NCISAA playoffs in the Fayetteville-area.

FREEDOM CHRISTIAN: Freedom Christian softball-baseball, Cape Fear softball take home conference championships

Christian Alleman, Freedom Christian - Alleman sits at No. 3 in NCISAA 2A in home runs (5), and No. 3 in runs (36) according to MaxPreps.

Victoria Bryant, Freedom Christian - Bryant has 77 strikeouts on the year and is No. 7 in in NCISAA Divison 3 according to MaxPreps.

Evan Bunce, Cape Fear - Bunce is No. 8 in RBIs in the 3A East with 26, and No. 6 in stolen bases with 25 according to MaxPreps.

Eli Corney, Freedom Christian - Corney sits at No. 1 in runs in NCISAA 2A, and No. 1 in stolen bases accoring to MaxPreps.

Kaylie Cook, South View - Cook leads her Tigers team in batting average at a .567, runs with 32, hits with 34, and ERA at 1.02.

Allie Dawson, Cape Fear -Dawson is No. 3 in batting average, hitting at .622, and No. 4 in runs with 36 according to MaxPreps.

Savanna Delp, South View - Delp is at No. 5 in the United 8 in RBIs with 23, and No. 3 in home runs five according to MaxPreps.

Amariya Green, Gray's Creek - Green is No. 5 in batting average with a .604, No. 8 in runs, and No. 4 in stolen bases with 16 in the 4A East according to MaxPreps.

Josh Hart, Terry Sanford - Hart is No. 3 in 3A East in wins with eight on the year according to MaxPreps.

Mason Hughes, Cape Fear - Hughes is No. 1 in stolen bases in the 3A East, and No. 8 in the NCHSAA according to MaxPreps.

Caden Jeffrey, Cape Fear - Jeffrey is No. 4 in the 3A East in ERA at 0.52 in 40 innings pitched and only three errors. He also ranks No. 7 in strikeouts in the 3A East according to MaxPreps.

Abigail Lago, Fayetteville Christian -Lago is No. 1 in stolen bases in NCISAA Division 3 with 25 according to MaxPreps.

Ben Martinez, Cape Fear - Martinez is hitting a .550 batting average that is ranked No. 2 in 3A East according to MaxPreps.

Olivia Melvin, Cape Fear - Melvin is at No. 1 in 3A East with 12 home run, and No. 3 in NCHSAA. She also is No. 1 in RBIs in 3A East, and No. 7 in strikeouts with 144, while at No. 5 in wins with 12, according to MaxPreps.

Rylan Miller, Freedom Christian - Miller is No. 3 in strikeouts in NCISAA Division 3 with 134, No. 3 in home runs with six total, and No. 4 in RBIs and runs with 33 according to MaxPreps.

Brent Smith, Terry Sanford - Smith is ranked at No. 4 in 3A East in RBIs with 30 according to MaxPreps.

Greysen Stafford, Freedom Christian - Stafford is No. 1 in NCISAA 2A in RBIs with 40 according to MaxPreps.

Wilson Stowers, Freedom Christian - Stowers is the No. 1 in strikeouts leader in NCISAA 2A with 93, and No. 1 in wins with eight according to MaxPreps.

Hannah Welsh, Gray's Creek - Regular-season no-hitter, 29 strikeouts on the year.

Kris Willis, Fayetteville Christian - Willis is No. 1 in NCISAA 2A in batting average, hitting at .615 according to MaxPreps.
