Fayetteville is adding 52 new parking spaces to a city-owned lot between Winslow and Russell streets. According to a news release, the parking lot will be closed for construction May 1 through mid-October.

The current parking lot has 34 spaces, and once the $575,000 project is completed this fall, there will be 86 spaces. Franklin Street will continue to serve as the parking lot’s entrance.

“Adding this many extra parking spots near City Hall will be excellent for employees and will allow closer parking ... to City Hall for residents,” Fayetteville spokesman Loren Bymer said in the release.

Until construction is finished, the city advises that residents traveling near the construction zone pay close attention to traffic signs, adhere to posted speed limits and be mindful of construction workers.
