6-year-old girl injured in Cumberland County drive-by shooting
A 6-year-old girl was injured late Wednesday in a drive-by shooting at a house in Cumberland County, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said Thursday afternoon. According to the Sheriff's Office, the shooting was reported at 11:40 p.m. in the 4300 block of Pleasant View Drive off Baywood Road. Deputies located multiple bullet holes and an empty residence upon arriving at the scene, the release said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A child was injured and four people have been displaced following a house fire that broke out in Fayetteville early Thursday morning. Sheriff's office warns Cumberland County residents of jury scam
Cumberland County residents are being warned about a phone scam that's circulating. The sheriff's office said people are receiving phone calls from callers impersonating law enforcement officers or Cumberland County Court staff members. The caller is informing the resident that a bench or arrest warrant has been issued for failure to appear for jury duty. The caller is instructing people to pay large amounts of money by telephone, Western Union or prepaid gift cards. Sometimes, the caller is telling people that failing to pay this fine will result in a jail sentence.
