Columbia eatery's accidental sprinkler activation prompts health check
A sprinkler activating at a western eatery resulted in an inspector's emergency response in Columbia. Routine restaurant inspections happen two to three times per year based on priority and location of Columbia restaurants, Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services previously has said. Follow-up inspections are scheduled if a critical violation is found. Restaurants typically may correct noncritical violations by the next routine inspection. Reports are from Oct. 20 through Monday, Oct. 26, unless otherwise noted. Reports may also include local bars and other locations where food may be served. The sprinkler was activated when a Pickleman's Gourmet Cafe , 3103 W. Broadway, employee was chipping ice in a walk-in cooler. The sprinkler was spraying for a while, the report noted. All impacted food items were discarded and all standing water was cleaned up. Because remediation efforts already were underway or completed, there was no need to temporarily suspend the establishment's operating permit, the report noted. Routine inspections Five Guys Burgers and Fries , 233 N. Stadium Blvd., had a restroom door that was not self closing Oct. 20. Management has until mid-January to fix. Employees did not have food handler cards Oct. 20 at Starbuck's Coffee , 2901 W.
