    Bicyclist hospitalized after being struck by driver in Faribault

    A bicyclist suffered serious injuries after being struck by a driver on a highway in Fairbault Sunday evening, according to authorities.

    The Faribault Police Department said the collision happened around 7:30 p.m. at the Highway 60 and Western Avenue intersection.

    The bicyclist, a 52-year-old Northfield man, was taken by ambulance to the Faribault Airport and then airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.

    On Monday, police said the man suffered significant injuries but is expected to survive.

    According to a news release, a 37-year-old Warsaw man was behind the wheel of the GMC pickup truck involved in the crash.

    Police said multiple witnesses reported the driver had been westbound on Highway 60 when he entered the intersection on a green light.

    "No citations were issued based on statements obtained and evidence at the scene," police wrote.
