Fairmont State Athletics awarded grant for establishment of new position

FAIRMONT, WV (LOOTPRESS ) – It was announced Tuesday that Fairmont State Athletics will be establishing a new position following a recent grant award.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Strategic Alliance Matching Grant was awarded to Fairmont State University in the amount of $145,330 for the creation of the Assistant Director of Athletics for External Affairs and Resource Development position in the Department of Athletics.

“We are grateful to receive support from the NCAA to expand the State Athletics Department,” Fairmont State University President, Dr. Mike Davis, said. “The Assistant Director will be crucial in strengthening alumni and community relationships and supporting the success of our University and Fighting Falcons .”

The Assistant Director of Athletics for External Affairs and Resource Development position will entail providing assistance with donor and external relations.

The selected individual will also take the lead on fundraising initiatives for the advancement of athletic programs at the university.

The Assistant Director will also work toward the organization of special events and will work alongside members of the Office of Alumni Relations and the Fairmont State Foundation for the establishment of annual development goals for the university’s department of athletics.
