Free ‘Starlight Cinema’ movies coming to Chantilly this August
The dog days of August will bring free movie screenings to the Sully Historic Site (3650 Historic Sully Way) in Chantilly. The outdoor Starlight Cinema events are a part of the “Summer Entertainment Series” organized annually by the Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA). The authority is also hosting Arts in the Parks, Evenings on the Ellipse, Franconia District Nights and other programs at various parks around the county.
Ten years in, Metro’s Silver Line Phase 1 stations are picking up riders again
On this day 10 years ago, Metrorail arrived in Tysons and Reston, connecting two growing communities in Fairfax County to D.C. by train for the first time. Decades in the making, the Silver Line’s Phase 1 launch on July 25, 2014 represented the D.C. region’s biggest rail expansion since the Green Line opened in 1991 and set the stage for a connection to Dulles International Airport and Loudoun County that came to fruition with Phase 2 on Nov. 15, 2022.
Fairfax County murder suspect is in US illegally, ICE says
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. - One of the suspects accused of murdering a man and leaving his body near a popular walking trail in Oakton is in the country illegally, according to ICE. Authorities say Maldin Anibal Guzman is a 27-year-old Honduran native who entered the country unlawfully and was first apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol in November 2018, near Hidalgo, Texas.

Man facing child exploitation charges in Virginia, Maryland
MONROVIA, Md. — A 68-year-old man is facing charges in both Maryland and Virginia after police say a week-long joint investigation uncovered crimes against children. Joseph Muir Osborne, of Monrovia, was arrested Wednesday by police at his home. In Fairfax County, he's facing 25 counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of distribution of bestiality. In Frederick County, he's also been charged with 24 counts of possession of child pornography.
