PREPS: Ashley Theisen dominant in return as Clinton downs Evansville 6-1

EVANSVILLE, Wis.—Clinton’s Ashley Theisen pitched a gem on the mound and brought home three runners from the plate to help take down Evansville 6-1 in a stellar return to the field after the junior missed two games due to a knee injury.

Theisen struck out a whopping 19 Blue Devils and allowed just three hits, three walks and one run, off Grace Nienhaus’ single in the seventh, in the complete-game effort. She helped make it 5-0 in the fourth when her single to center scored two and added an RBI off another single in the sixth.

The Cougars (2-4, 2-4 RVCR) opened up the scoring with Jordi Morrison’s two-run single in the first. Allie Bell then added an RBI single in the fourth.

London Winch finished with two hits as did Theisen and Morrsion as Clinton outhit its Rock Valley Rock foes 8-3. Evansville (3-6, 0-5) had doubles from Ava Olson and Ava Vest.

• BRODHEAD 12, EDGERTON 0: The Cardinals’ stayed undefeated as Ava Risum allowed just a walk in five no-hit innings while the offense knocked the Crimson Tide for 11 hits in the big RVC Rock win.

Risum struck out 12 for visiting Brodhead (7-0, 6-0) while going 1-for-3 with three runs and an RBI from the plate. The Cardinals scored six runs off Edgerton (1-6, 1-3) in the third and four in the fourth to put the mercy rule into effect.

Alecia Dahl smacked a triple as she went 3-for-4 with four runs batted in and Sophia Leitzen added three hits of her own.

• NORTH BOONE 10, ROCK FALLS 3: Audrey Pearce and Danielle Goodman both blasted homers as the Vikings racked up 12 hits to defeat the Rockets (8-10, 4-3) in Big Northern Conference action.

A five-run fifth, highlighted by Goodman’s three run blast, took any of the drama out of the game and Pearce’s solo blast in the sixth put North Boone (13-3, 6-1) into double-digits.

Sydney Goodman finished the night 3-for-3 while Stefek went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and double.

Cami Carter earned the win from the circle after allowing five hits, three runs (two earned) and one walk while striking out eight.

• BURLINGTON 15, BELOIT TURNER 5: Kayal Warner led the charge with four hits as the Demons walloped the Trojans for 18 hits in non-conference action at the YMCA Youth Sports Complex.

Kam Davis, Kamryn Clark, Sami Schleis and Autumn Meris each had two of Turner’s 10 hits with Meris smacking a one-run double.

Lauryn Wells took the loss for the Trojans (4-2) as Burlington (8-1) knocked her for 15 runs, but just six of those were earned as Turner committed five errors.

• BIG FOOT 16, DELAVAN-DARIEN 0: The Chiefs whacked 14 hits and took advantage of six errors by the visiting Comets (0-10) for a great offensive night and a strong win on Monday.

An eight-run third was highlighted by a two-run triple by Kate Hummel and a two-run double by Claire Patek. Holly Kynell blasted a three-run homer in the second while Hummel smacked a two-run bomb in the fourth to bring the game to an end via the mercy rule.

Lily Wolf and Kynell, who had five RBI, both had three hits. Hummel brought home four runs.

Ella Kinane allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out three in the four-inning performance for Big Foot (5-3).

• DODGELAND/HUSTISFORD 13, PARKVIEW 8: Natalie Abey had a stellar night from the plate, hitting three doubles and a triple while racking up six RBI, but the visiting Vikings committed four errors and allowed 14 walks in the loss to D/H.

D/H (3-4) jumped out to a 8-0 lead by the third inning before Parkview (2-5) chipped away with three runs in both the fifth and seventh.

Jazmyn Wiedmer went 2-for-5 with a run and RBI while Joey Meyers had two hits and two runs in the 12-hit effort. Abby Anderson stole a base and knocked in a run.

• BASEBALL: ELKHORN 13, BELOIT MEMORIAL 3: Michael Nora smacked a pair of doubles and brought home two runs for the Purple Knights, but it wasn’t enough to match the hosting Elks’ offensive prowess in SLC play on Monday.

Nora had a one-run double in the first and the fifth while Owen West, Brooks Mitchell and Ivan Rivera accounted for the other of Beloit’s (0-5, 0-5) five hits.

Elkhorn (7-5, 3-2) scored five in the first and three in both the second and fifth in the five-inning contest.

• LENA-WINSLOW 17, SOUTH BELOIT 2: Jonah Martinez hit a double and scored when he stole home but the hosting Panther poured on seven runs in the fourth to rout the SoBos on Monday.

Richard Carlson had the other hit and scored on Zach Baker’s sacrifice fly for South Beloit (1-11), who committed nine errors and allowed eight hits to Lena-Winslow (11-4).

• NORTH BOONE 14, ROCKFORD LUTHERAN 9: The Vikings strung together big innings as they scored six in the fourth and five in the sixth to hold off the Crusaders (6-4, 4-3) in BNC action.

JJ Ford was 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBI while Margarito Espain went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Gage Vermett also had two hits and knocked in a pair of runners for North Boone (15-6, 6-3), who had doubles from Ford and Espain and a triple from Chris Doetch.

The Vikings used five different pitchers with Vermett making the start and going three innings with seven strikeouts, four walks, three hits and an earned run.

• GIRLS SOCCER: BIG FOOT/WILLIAMS BAY 2, EAST TROY 0: Jacki Rambatt and Caylie Wanat each scored goals for the Chiefs as they shut out the visiting Trojans in Rock Valley Conference play on Monday.

Molly Andersen contributed an assist and goalie Bianca Mondragon made eight saves for the Chiefs (5-2-2, 4-3-1), who sit in first place in the RVC.

• BOYS TENNIS: UNION GROVE 4, BELOIT MEMORIAL 3: The Purple Knights picked up a victory from Nick Ostenson-Zweifel over Jackson Woods at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-4 as well as two wins in doubles, but came up just short in a home meet Monday.

Francisco Rebolledo-Valdez teamed up with Abraham Perez-Guzman to win at No. 1 doubles over Nolan Framberg and Jaden Talley, 6-4, 7-6 (1). The No. 2 team of Mohanad Nabhan and Gabe Hellen defeated Trystin Morgan and Dan Wallace, 2-6, 6-2, 11-9.

• BOYS GOLF: EDGEWOOD INVITATIONAL: Janesville Craig won the team title at Blackhawk Golf Course with a score of 314. Waunakee and Middleton each finished at 323 followed by Milton (324) and Fort Atkinson (328).

Beloit Memorial did not have a full team. Marcus Allen finished 23rd with an 84.
