    Leo grad Miller helps Northwestern softball clinch third straight Big Ten title

    EVANSTON, Ill. (WANE) – In her final season of college softball, Leo High School grad Ashley Miller is celebrating a Big Ten regular season title with Northwestern.

    The grad student nearly pitched a complete game in Sunday’s 4-2 win over Indiana to wrap up the regular season. Northwestern has now won three straight Big Ten regular season titles.

    Miller fanned four batters while allowing two earned runs, three hits and eight walks. The pitcher is now 17-4 this season in the circle.

    After transferring from Michigan State, Miller has an ERA of 1.34 with 43 strikeouts in 151.1 innings played this season. The grad student has allowed 29 earned runs on 87 hits and 77 walks.

    Miller and the Wildcats look to clinch a Big Ten tournament title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament this week. The Big Ten tournament runs from May 8 – 11 in Iowa City, Iowa.
