Top 3A, 2A, 1A Eugene area athletes to watch at state track and field championships

The OSAA 3A, 2A, and 1A state track and field championships are set to kick off at Hayward Field in Eugene on Thursday.

The smaller schools state meet will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday and is slated to conclude around 10:30 p.m. Friday.

Here are a few of the top Eugene area athletes to watch at state.

Boys 3A

Dylan Jensen (Siuslaw) pole vault

Siuslaw senior Dylan Jensen is tied for first seed in the Class 3A boys pole vault, coming off a first-place clearance of 13 feet, 3/4 inches in districts. He is also part of the Vikings 4x400 meter relay team that is ranked fourth among 3A schools.

Justin Allen (Siuslaw) pole vault

Siuslaw junior Justin Allen is among the top ranked for 3A athletes in pole vault (13-4).

Will Johnson (Siuslaw) long jump, triple jump, pole vault

Siuslaw sophomore Will Johnson is ranked second among 3A athletes in long jump (21-2 1/5), third in triple jump (43-3), fourth in pole vault (13-0) and is a part of Vikings 4x100 meter relay team which is ranked first among 3A schools.

Girls 3A

Jane Lacouture (Siuslaw) shot put, javelin

Siuslaw senior Jane Lacouture is among the top ranked 3A athletes in shot put (36-1 1/4) and sixth in javelin (113-6).

Ryan Thomas (Pleasant Hill) 100 meters

Pleasant Hill sophomore Ryan Thomas is ranked third among 3A athletes in the 100 meters (12.57). She is also part of the Billies 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams, which hold the fifth fastest time (50.75) and the sixth fastest (4:11.09) among 3A schools.

Kylie Leonard (Creswell) 300 meter hurdles, 400 meters

Creswell sophomore Kylie Leonard is third ranked among 3A athletes in the 300 meter hurdles (48.62), fourth in the 400 meters (1:00.22). She also runs the third leg in the Bulldogs 4x400 meter relay that is ranked fourth (4:09.82) among 3A schools.

Boys 2A

Rowan Files (Lowell) 100 meters, javelin

Lowell senior Rowan Files is among the top ranked 2A athletes in the 100 meters (10.82) and sixth in javelin (161-2).

Nathaniel Young (Monroe) long jump, triple jump, 300 meter hurdles

Monroe senior Nathaniel Young is among the top ranked 2A athletes in long jump (22-3 3/4), second in triple jump (43-5) and sixth in the 300 meter hurdles (42.09).

Girls 2A

Matilyn Richardson (Monroe) shot put, triple jump

Monroe senior Matilyn Richardson is ranked fifth among 2A athletes in shot put (33-10) and eighth in triple jump (32-6 1/2).

Girls 1A

Samara Baker (Triangle Lake) 100 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles

Triangle Lake sophomore Samara Baker is ranked second among 1A athletes in the 100 meter hurdles (15.52) and 300 meter hurdles (46.66).

Feirin McConnell (Tringle Lake) javelin

Triangle Lake junior Feirin McConnell is ranked second among 1A athletes in javelin (117-6).
