When senior dogs develop health conditions, it can be hard for them to find a home. Thankfully, there are people and places that welcome these sweet souls with open hearts. They understand that although they may have challenges, they don’t let anything hold them back.

This precious Pit Bull is a shining example of living life to the fullest after getting a second chance. Watch this video for May 1 to see him enjoying his favorite spot.

Even though Cricket might have a neurological disorder that makes it challenging for him to walk, he doesn’t let that stop him from going to his favorite place with his dad. This beautiful senior Pit Bull is part of the pack at the Asher House (@ theasherhouse ) in Estacada, Oregon. He is one of the lucky dogs who found now calls this loving sanctuary home. Although he may have plenty of four-legged friends to run around with each day, this walk on the beach was special because it was just him and his dad, Lee Asher. Even though he might not walk easily, when he needs to take a break, he does, and once he regains his energy, he carries on. Lee explains why no one is sure how many days this old man will be here; he can promise they will be good.

    Adopting an Asher House Rescue

While some dogs at the Asher house sanctuary are here for the rest of their days, they also have many beautiful animals that range in age and size and are ready for adoption . From nine week old puppies to more mature dogs; if you’re looking for a new family member to join your pack, there’s a good chance you’ll find them here.

This good boy’s perseverance inspired animal lovers. Viewer @debsgartland responded, “Thank you for giving him extra love and that amazing feeling of sand between his toes.” It must feel as good to them as it does to us. Viewer @loulouandsam responded, “This is so heartwarming. What you do is absolutely amazing. So many animals deserve this (sometimes humans, too), but to fight for those who cannot defend themselves is admirable.” It takes a special person to give so much love. Viewer @sharon_b_k remarked, “Cricket is in the best place for his health and safety. Walking in the sand gives him time to have fun. Thankfully, being with the Asher House gives him all the love, fun, and a wonderful life a pup could dream of.” While he may not have always had it easy, he never has to worry again.

People like Lee Asher and his team make the world a better place. Hopefully, the shelters will be empty one day, and every dog will have a loving home. Until then, we can be grateful places like Asher House exist and provide the love, care, and safety all creatures deserve.
