    Española shelter dog named as finalist in national makeover contest

    ESPAÑOLA, N.M. (KRQE) – A New Mexico shelter dog is now a finalists in the 13th Annual WahlPets Dirty Dogs Contest . The contest is a shelter dog makeover contest highlight the before and after makeover pictures and stories of the dogs.

    Guiseppe arrived at to Española Humane with five pounds of matted hair. The amount of matted hair left Guiseppe unable to walk and covered up a number of health issues. Guiseppe was given dedicated medical care and support and is now living in a loving home.

    More than 400 dogs were submitted to the contest and ten finalists were chosen. The public can vote until May 31, 2024 on their favorite makeover story. Three winners will be chosen with a total of $15,000 in grants going towards the organizations affiliated with the dog; and $10,000 going to the first-place winner.
