ERWIN, Tenn. (WJHL) — Downtown Erwin hosted the first Trails and Tunes Festival on Saturday.

The Trails and Tunes Festival is a rebranding of the former Great Outdoors Festival. The new festival welcomed more music, vendors and outdoor adventure than before.

The festival celebrated the region’s best bands, crafters and nature spots. Guests enjoyed various outdoor activities such as mountain biking, rock climbing, fly fishing and more. There was also a designated area for children.

Austin Finch, the Economic Development Director of Unicoi County, stated that up to 6,000 hikers trek through the area’s trails each year. The festival aims to provide those hikers with a welcoming place to rest.

“So, a lot of hikers will take their 0 days in Erwin, that means they’ll hike zero miles,” Finch said. “They’re going to come here; they’re going to relax, try some of the shops, stay at Uncle Johnny’s hostel or campsite, and just experience Erwin, so we wanted to give them something to do.

The Trails and Tunes Festival included about 30 vendors.
