North East woman nearly scammed out of $35K

( WJET/WFXP ) — A North East woman was allegedly almost scammed out of over $35,000.

According to a March 26 police report, on Jan. 30, 2024, around 3:48 p.m., a North East woman contacted Erie police due to a call she received from her bank in regards to a potential fraudulent check.

The woman claimed her bank contacted her because an individual had attempted to cash a fake check under her Florida business’s name for a total of $35,020.50.

The woman’s account was subsequently closed, and her bank investigated the transaction.

She did not lose any money due to this incident, and no further updates have been reported.
