    Clothing drive set

    ENGLEWOOD — Englewood Christian School, 571 Medical Drive, is holding a fundraiser for its volleyball court.

    The school is asking people to donate worn-out clothing, bed linens and other material items. A collection trailer will be set up in the parking lot of Merchant’s Crossing Shopping Center, 1500 Placida Road, Englewood.

    Clothing drive set for church

    NORTH PORT — The North Port Community United Church of Christ, 3450 S. Biscayne Drive, announced its monthly food drive will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday.

    Members of the congregation will help unload donations from vehicles. Donations are for the Salvation Army Food Bank. Food Staples, paper goods, toiletries, bottled water and school snacks are appreciated.

    Two-piano concert at First Presbyterian Church of Punta Gorda

    PUNTA GORDA — The Two Piano Group will present its spring concert at 3 p.m. May 5 at First Presbyterian Church of Punta Gorda, 25250 Airport Road, Punta Gorda.

    Mother’s Day breakfast

    PORT CHARLOTTE — St. Charles Knights of Columbus Council 5399 holds a Mother’s Day breakfast from 7:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sunday, May 12 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Parish Center, 21505 Augusta Ave., Port Charlotte.

    Breakfast will include scrambled eggs, sausage or ham, biscuits and gravy, home fries, pancakes, juice and coffee. Adults are $10 and children 8 and under are $5. Mothers eat free.

    Sonrise Baptist plans car, craft shows

    ENGLEWOOD — Sonrise Baptist Church, 11050 Willmington Blvd., Englewood, has planned a car show and an arts and crafts show for 2-6 p.m. May 18 at the church

    The event will be followed by a free spaghetti dinner at 6 p.m.

    Mothers Helping Mothers at GCUMC

    GULF COVE — The Mothers Helping Mothers relief trailer is available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at Gulf Cove United Methodist Church, 1100 S. McCall Road. The group offers free clothing for the entire family and other basic necessities.

    Closet of Hope is open

    GULF COVE — Gulf Cove United Methodist Church, 1100 S. McCall Road, has reopened its Clothes Closet for people in need.

    The Closet of Hope offers free clothing for children and adults. It is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. the first and third Saturdays of each month, except holidays. People must present a photo ID that shows residency of Charlotte County or Englewood, North Port, or Venice of Sarasota County. Families are limited to one bag of clothing each month.

    Card parties at St. Francis

    GROVE CITY — The Women’s Guild of St. Francis of Assisi Church, 5265 Placida Road, Grove City, has monthly card parties the first Wednesday of each month through May.
