ENGLEWOOD — An Englewood home on Carroll Circle was severely damaged Tuesday evening due to an electrical fire.

Englewood Area Fire Control responded to the call. Chief Kevin Easton said there were no deaths or injuries from the fire.

“It was an electrical fire,” Easton said. “Thankfully, no one was injured.”

Damages occurred to the garage and backside of the house. Workers outside of the home Wednesday stated three residents were able to leave the premises.

As Florida enters summer, homeowners are starting to use their air conditioners more often. The U.S. Fire Administration states that old and uncleaned home appliances are one of the leading causes of electrical fires.

In 2021, an estimated 24,200 residential building electrical fires were reported to United States fire departments. These fires caused an estimated 295 deaths, 900 injuries and over $1.2 billion in property loss, according to the U.S. Fire Administration.
