Weather Kid: Science loving fourth-grader gives the forecast
MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - Grace, a fourth-grader at Loyola Catholic School, loves science and being outside when the weather is nice. When Grace is in school, she can be found loving anything and everything related to science and science classes. She says science is her absolute favorite subject despite not being able to list a least favorite one. She even enjoys math. She enjoys math so much that she was part of her school’s Math Masters team, which took first place in the recent math competition. When it comes to science, Grace initially couldn’t pick out what she loved most about science, but after chatting for a while, she said she loves astronomy. She hopes to go into astronomy or become a space engineer once she’s older.
USC defeats WEM 13-9
An explosive fifth inning propelled the United South Central Rebels’ baseball team to a big 13-9 win over the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneers on Thursday, April 25. USC scored a run in the first and third innings for a 2-0 lead. But the Bucs came up with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 2-2.
Mankato gets chance to look beyond the veil

Expect delays at Highway 99 Minnesota River Bridge in St. Peter May 6-8
ST. PETER, Minn. (KEYC) - Drivers will face minor traffic delays May 6-8, weather permitting, at the historic Highway 99 bridge over the Minnesota River in St. Peter. Bridge experts from the Minnesota Department of Transportation will be performing routine inspection from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the fracture-critical 1931 iron truss bridge.
Minnesota State University, Mankato receives workforce development grant
MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development announced 19 workforce development grants totaling over $2.9 million to eight Minnesota educational institutions that are partnering with Minnesota businesses to develop and deliver customized workforce training programs. Grantees expect to train more than 4,000 workers through these programs.
