ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM ) — The Community Arts of Elmira just became more accessible to all ways of life after the remodel and installation of a new ramp and pathways.

A ribbon cutting was held on Tuesday, May 21, after completing the much wider and less steep ramp that helps guests enter the building.

The ramp prior had a more narrower entrance and only two inclines whereas the new ramp allows guests to access it from the parking lot, and then up three less steep inclines to get to the door.

In addition to the ramp, a wider concrete pathway was put in, connecting the sidewalk to the ramp and the main steps to the facility.

The new ramp follows ADA guidelines and was made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts and the United Way of the Southern Tier.
