Two vehicles crash in Downtown Elmira, one person injured

ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM ) — One person was taken away from the scene of an Elmira crash in an ambulance on Monday evening.

A minivan crashed into the back of an SUV at the intersection of West Water Street and Walnut Street just before 6 p.m. on May 6. The vehicles were traveling south along Walnut Street and had just approached the intersection when the crash occurred.

According to an 18 News Reporter at the scene, one person was taken away from the scene via Erway ambulance. The vehicles appeared to have sustained minor damage.

The westbound lane of West Water Street and the southbound lane of Walnut Street were temporarily closed while first responders worked at the scene.

The Elmira Police Department, the Elmira Fire Department, and Erway Ambulance responded to the crash.
