Today, she emails over 100 contributors with specific item requests and presents the items directly to families, individuals and children of all ages. Some of the items she has distributed include baby merchandise, pull tabs, kitchen utensils, toys, games, food, small furnishings and decorations.
Perrysburg buys Mercy Health property for $3.9 million
Perrysburg is purchasing an East River Road medical building and adjoining acreage for $3.9 million in anticipation of moving some offices there but keeping several others in its current downtown location. At Tuesday’s meeting, city council unanimously voted to approve the purchase of the 26,000-square-foot building at 28442 E. River Rd. and a total of 5.7 acres from Mercy Health. The plan is for some Perrysburg city offices to move to the new building. However, the offices of the mayor, city council, administrator, human resources, attorney, and fiscal officer will remain downtown. Also, the main police division will remain on Indiana Avenue, but some offices, including the detective bureau, could move to River Road, according to Perrysburg administrator Joe Fawcett. “This is too good of an opportunity to pass up,” he said in a Tuesday interview before the council meeting.

Teen charged with November homicide arrested in Alabama
A 16-year-old boy charged with murder for the Nov. 9 shooting of a man whose body was found in a burning car in East Toledo has been arrested in Alabama, Toledo police said Monday. Lt. Paul Davis, a department spokesman, said Kristaun Self, 16, was awaiting extradition to Ohio following his arrest in Birmingham, Ala. Young Self is charged with delinquency for murder in the death of Josiah Gill, 20, of Toledo’s Point Place neighborhood. Toledo firefighters found Mr. Gill’s body in a burning car beneath the Veterans’ Glass City Skyway in a median at its Front Street interchange. The Lucas County Coroner’s Office said Mr. Gill died of a gunshot wound to the head and was not alive during the fire. A co-defendant, Alexzander Perez, 31, of the 100 block of Western Avenue, is not charged in Mr. Gill’s death but was indicted on charges including first-degree aggravated arson, third-degree tampering with evidence and obstructing justice, and fifth-degree abuse of a corpse.
