EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) – A 43-year-old man was stabbed and killed after a physical altercation between passengers on a Sun Metro bus Thursday, May 2 in Central El Paso, El Paso Police Department’s Public Information Officer Sgt. Robert Gomez said.

Gomez said that officers received a call at 6 p.m. Thursday to respond to the 1600 block of Texas Avenue about a stabbing.

Officers responding to the scene found the man wounded near the bus. He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, Gomez said.

Gomez said no suspect is in custody yet and some witnesses left the scene before police arrived.

“We know that there were witnesses that left the bus and we weren’t able to speak with them. The detectives would really like to speak to those witnesses so that we can get this straightened out,” Gomez said.

Additionally, Crime Against Persons Unit is investigating this homicide.

KTSM is working to gather more information and update this developing story.
