EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WCIA) — A line of storms that moved through Central Illinois Tuesday morning left behind significant damage in Effingham.

Matt Kulesza, Assistant Chief of the Effingham Fire Department, said the storms came through town and were gone in just eight minutes. In its wake, the storms left behind damage to trailer homes in the Easy Breeze MHP and other buildings in town.

The rooftop air conditioner units of Puerto Vallarta were torn off the building and thrown into the parking lot. On the restaurant’s social media page , staff said they expect to be closed for around a week as they conduct repairs and wait on new air conditioners.

“We have had multiple people/businesses contact us to see if we need help with anything. We truly appreciate all of the calls and messages,” the post said.
