    Effingham Fire extinguishes motel fire, no one hurt

    EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WCIA) — No one is hurt after an Effingham motel caught fire Thursday evening.

    The fire happened at Clover Lead Motel around 6:46 p.m. Officials said the fire started in Unit 15. Effingham Police officers got to the scene first and evacuated people from other units while firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire and quickly put it out.

    Damage was contained to Unit 15 and no one was hurt. The fire, which was determined to be an accident, caused around $30,000 worth of damage.

    The Effingham Fire and Police Departments were assisted by the Fire Protection Districts of Teutopolis and Shumway, as well as Rural Med EMS.
