Florida Woman Dies in Itasca Co. After Being Struck by Unmanned Truck and Trailer
A 59-year-old Florida woman died in Itasca County this morning after she was struck by a truck and camper trailer that had rolled from a parking spot. The Itasca County Sheriff’s Office reports that at around 10 a.m. on May 11, they responded to a report of a fatal hit-and-run accident on 2nd Street near Larue Court in Nashwauk. Following a preliminary investigation, authorities determined that it was not a hit-and-run incident, but that the victim was struck and killed after her unmanned truck and camper trailer started to roll from their parking spot.

Knights of Columbus Pancake Breakfast
The Knights of Columbus will host a community breakfast at St.Joseph’s Catholic Church from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Sunday, May 5th. The menu will include pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, juice, coffee and milk. Cost is a free-will offering and all proceeds will be donated to Itasca County Habitat for Humanity. Founded in 1992, Itasca County Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a global non-profit working to eliminate substandard housing worldwide. Since organizing, the Itasca affiliate has served 57 families in Itasca County. With a goal of serving more families through new home construction and a home repair program, the affiliate is currently seeking volunteers, board and committee members. Prom with Purpose
In January, a junior student from Grand Rapids High School reached out to Itasca Area Schools Collaborative Executive Director, Jackie Skelly, because she had an inclusive idea that involved some of her fellow students.
