EDWARDSVILLE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — They call it the “Greatest Show On Earth” and it’s returning to Northeastern Pennsylvania this week.

And Wednesday night, a premier all-star cheerleading program got a sneak peek at the entertainment the popular circus will be showcasing in Luzerne County.

The Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey Circus begins its three-day spectacular show this week right here in Wilkes-Barre.

A preview and a chance to show off their skills days Wednesday in front of a group of young local gymnasts.

An act of strength and balance, “The Black Diamond Trio” provided a spectacular sneak peek of what’s to come inside Mohegan Sun Arena.

Wednesday night’s venue in Edwardsville is a bit smaller but no less thrilling. Members of the acrobatic and aerials group among other circus performers, demonstrated their skills at the Pennsylvania All-Stars Sports Complex.

“I loved everything that involved it. I thought it was so cool,” said Avalon Yadsko, a gymnast with Pennsylvania All-Stars.

It’s a circus that’s been around for more than 150 years but after being off the road for seven years, the circus is now back on tour and this year performers say it’s re-imagined.

“It’s older than Coca-Cola, it’s older than the Kentucky Derby, and older than baseball. We’ve come back with an all-new product. This is like something you’ve never seen before,” added Wesley Williams, a unicyclist at Ringling Bros & Barnum and Bailey.

There are 75 performers from 18 different countries showcasing more than 50 acts in two hours.

Training with gymnasts from Pennsylvania All-Stars Wednesday night was a way to get the show rolling just days before.

And the performers on Wednesday say they developed their skills in the circus on mats just like the ones Pennsylvania All-Stars practice on.

“It was amazing to be here with Pennsylvania All-Stars. I would love to see something like that in the circus. It was a great experience all the girls have amazing energy and I will try to take some of that onto the stage of course,” explained Edualdo Navas, Troupe Borhers, TeeterBoards.

As they prepare to perform the “Greatest Show On Earth” they say it’s one you won’t want to miss.

“We have collected never before seen stunts 150 years that’s kind of hard to do to find something that hasn’t been done before. Two hours you leave your worries at the door. It’s big, simple fun in the most extravagant way,” Willimas continued.

The Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus will put on three shows this Friday, April 19 through Sunday, April 21.
