Canton woman in Lewis County Jail faces possession of methamphetamine charge
CANTON, Mo. — A Canton woman with previous drug convictions in Adams and Hancock counties in Illinois faces more drug charges in Lewis County. A Lewis County Sheriff’s Office deputy conducted a traffic stop for speed in rural Lewis County on May 3. The driver was identified as Leslie A. Kirby, 41. After further investigation, it was determined Miss Kirby’s Illinois driver’s license had been revoked. She was arrested and transported to the Lewis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges.

Man seriously injured in rollover crash on old Highway 63
A single-vehicle accident occurred Friday night around 7:50 p.m. on Old Highway 63, approximately half a mile south of LaPlata, resulting in serious injuries to the driver. The vehicle, a 2019 Can-Am UTV, was heading north when it lost control and overturned. Austin L. Roberts, 27, of LaPlata, was identified as the driver of the vehicle. Roberts was transported by Air-Evac to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of serious injuries.
