NYPD’s bust up at Columbia doesn’t mean this disgraceful antisemitic episode is over
Although the NYPD was finally allowed to do its job at Columbia University, it would be a mistake to believe the disgraceful episode is over. After all, the pro-Hamas stooges, the complicit faculty and the quisling administrators are still jockeying for power. With graduation still two weeks away, it’s too early to declare a winner. Start with the radical students. They set up a camp in the middle of the famous quad and day-after-day chanted slogans that revealed an allegiance to terrorists. They harassed Jewish students and their commitment to the elimination of Israel marks the resurgence of an ancient hatred in a city...

Congestion pricing in NYC is a waste of money: Letters to the Editor — May 2, 2024
The Issue: Manhattan’s controversial congestion pricing program, set to take effect June 30. Congestion pricing is another way to kill businesses in our city and put a financial burden on those that commute to work (“Railing no fare at MTA,” May 1). I am sick of this administration taking and taking while giving nothing in return.Mayor Adams has once again proven what a worthless leader he really is. Gov. Hochul disgraces the office. Alfred N. 3 Things To Know Today
1 Police Move In On Columbia University Protesters. The New York Police Department was called in to clear protesters on the campus of Columbia University last night. Around 9 pm, campus authorities authorized the NYPD to go onto campus “to restore safety and order to our community.” The initial focus for officers was the occupied Hamilton Hall, and officers said they found a heavily fortified building when they entered. Around 50 protesters were arrested and taken away by bus. NYPD officials said the protesters in Hamilton Hall will be charged with burglary in the third degree, criminal mischief, and trespassing. After securing the building, officers moved on to the tent encampments on campus, and later in the evening police reported that the only thing remaining at the site of the protesters’ encampment was empty tents they said the university would clear away. Columbia University says it’s asked the NYPD to “retain a presence on campus through at least May 17th.”

In court Wednesday, Judge Curtis Farber presided over arguments to retry the case, remanding 72-year-old Weinstein and ordering a trial after Labor Day.
NYC asks judge to order house arrest for ‘worst landlord’ in one of his own buildings
City lawyers are asking the court to extend the landlords stay at Rikers, or move him into one of the apartments he owns. The request from a city attorney is reminiscent of the 1991 film "The Super," in which a landlord played by Joe Pesci is forced to live in his own crumbling apartment building. [ more › ]
