The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that remains were identified as Matthew Yeomans, who was reported missing in September of 2021.

A human skull and other remains were found in a Summer Street resident’s brook on May 1, just a few houses down from where Yeomans lived, the DA said. The Massachusetts Office of Chief Medical Examiner matched the skull to Yeomans’s dental records, according to the DA.

Yeomans, who had a medical condition and mental health issues, was reported missing by his grandfather on Sept. 19, 2021. Police searched his Summer Street home and found his wallet and phone, and the DA said the area around his home was searched at the time.

When the remains were discovered, multiple state and local agencies responded to search the area, where they found additional human remains.

The DA did not release a cause of death and said the investigation is ongoing.
